Implant Over dentures

Implant Over dentures

An implant overdenture is a type of removable, snap-on dental prosthesis supported by 2–4 dental implants, rather than relying on gums and adhesives. These dentures, also called snap-in dentures, improve stability for eating and speaking while allowing removal for cleaning, usually in the lower jaw.

Support & Fixation

They snap onto implants or a metal bar connecting the implants, offering better stability than traditional dentures. They are often used for lower jaws (2-4 implants) or upper jaws (4+ implants) to provide a firm, secure fit.

Benefits

Enhanced chewing ability, improved speech, and reduced bone loss, often providing a "full set of teeth" experience. Existing, comfortable dentures can sometimes be modified to fit over the new implants.

Common Differences and Types

01
Implant-Supported

The dentures are primarily supported by a bar connected to the implants, often resulting in a more rigid, secure fit.

02
Implant-Retained

The dentures snap onto small studs or attachments directly on the implants.

03
Daily Routine

The appliance is removed daily for cleaning and is not meant to be worn 24/7.
