Veneers
Veneers
Dental veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. Think of them like “false nails” for your teeth—they are permanently bonded to the natural tooth structure to change its color, shape, size, or length.
What Do Veneers Fix?
They are primarily a cosmetic treatment used to camouflage imperfections, including:
Stains from coffee, smoking, or medications that don't respond to traditional whitening.
Chipped, cracked, or worn-down edges.
Closing small gaps (diastemas) or masking slightly crooked teeth without braces.
Teeth that are too small, pointed, or uneven.
The Process
Your dentist evaluates your oral health and takes X-rays or impressions.
To ensure a flat, natural fit, a tiny amount of enamel (about 0.5mm) is usually shaved off the front of the tooth. Because this step is permanent, the process is considered irreversible.
The dentist uses a special dental cement and a curing light to permanently "glue" the custom shells to your teeth.
Veneers don't require special products, but you should maintain a strict routine of brushing and flossing. To prevent chipping, avoid biting hard objects like ice, fingernails, or using your teeth as tools to open packages.
