Occlusal and sport mouth guards
Occlusal and sport mouth guards
Occlusal guards (night guards) and sports mouthguards are protective dental appliances. Occlusal guards are hard/soft, custom-fit devices worn during sleep to prevent tooth grinding (bruxism) and alleviate jaw pain. Slimmer for comfort and breathability compared to sports guards.
Sports mouthguards are thicker, soft, or flexible appliances worn during athletic activities to absorb impacts, protecting against tooth fractures, chipped teeth, and soft tissue damage. Thicker construction designed for shock absorption.
Occlusal Guards (Night Guards / Bite Guards)
Worn while sleeping to manage TMJ symptoms, alleviate morning headaches, reduce teeth grinding/clenching, and prevent enamel wear.
Soft night guards (for mild bruxism), hard night guards, and dual laminate (for severe grinding).
Sport Mouth Guards
Worn during high-impact, contact, or collision sports (like football, hockey, or soccer) to protect teeth, gums, and jaw from trauma.
Custom-made (best protection), boil-and-bite (thermoplastic, DIY), and stock (pre-formed).
